Chapter 4 Analysis:
- In the last chapter analysis I asked why Nick would want to befriend Gatsby, now in chapter four, Gatsby is trying to befriend Nick
- Jay goes on to explain his "true life" to Nick and show picture evidence.
- One could say that Gatsby only wants to be friends with Nick to get to Daisy, which is why he pulled Jordan aside at his party.
- People always seem to talk in pride knowing Gatsby: when Nick showed off his formal invitation at the party
- I enjoy how Fitzgerald transitions from paragraph to paragraph, most of the time it leaves a cliffhanger as to how that situation was resolved.
- In a way it progresses the story because it allows Fitzgerald to leave that scene and develop another and then return later to that scene.
- The ending of this chapter confuses me, is the woman he is beside Jordan, or just a girl?
- And when he draws her up to his face, do they kiss? Why would he kiss a girl if he is more intrigued by men? Especially it it's just the two of them, not like he has to convince others that he likes woman...
